My research focuses on observational seismology.  Using techniques such as waveform modeling and array analysis. I study small-scale structures that have strong lateral variations across plate boundary, shallow crust and along the core-mantle boundary. These small-scale structures hold many clues to answer important open questions on global mantle convection, plate deformation and ground motion prediction. I am also interested in combining seismology and mechanics to understand the dynamics of unusual seismic events such as debris flow and induced seismicity.
