Earthquake Fellows Program
Earthquake Fellows is a summer program for High School students in the local Pasadena area. The Fellows work with and learn from leading earthquake scientists, researchers, engineers, and technicians in Southern California and the program provides current high school sophomores and juniors with instruction and experiences that help them gain skills needed to succeed in a university setting. Fellows learn about the basic science of earthquakes, gain computer skills (such as recording and plotting data), gain critical thinking skills while becoming exposed to the geology of Los Angeles. Look out for our annual announcement at your school during the late winter as applications are due in April. See the Earthquake Fellows page for details.
Summer Internships
Undergraduate students both at Caltech or from other colleges and university can participate in research with Seismo Lab faculty and their research groups during the summer. We widely participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) and WAVE programs.
Tours of the Seismo Lab
The Seismological Laboratory is the working environment of the people who study earthquakes. The tour includes the Exhibit Center and the Media Room. Tour guides discuss how scientists gather information, study earthquakes, and use this information to understand our earth. Please contact the Seismo Lab Office or Margaret Vinci about tours.
