Insights into Induced Earthquakes: The Impact of Machine Learning
Induced earthquakes are caused by human activities, such as wastewater injection, hydraulic fracturing, geothermal exploitation, and carbon storage. The increased observation of induced earthquakes and the associated risk have raised significant public concern. Understanding induced earthquakes and mitigating the seismic risk pose great challenges for geoscientific research. We will explore recent advancements in the study of induced earthquakes. Our discussion will focus on what we have learned about these seismic events and examine the role of machine learning in enhancing our understanding of them.
